Dr Hari Gunasingham
Dr. Hari Gunasingham is a serial entrepreneur having started several technology companies over the last 20 years. His earliest foray into the technology business was in 1990 when he founded, an instrumentation company, which became the pre-eminent company in the field. He sold the company, Eutech Instruments, in 1999 -now a division of Fischer Thermo- and started the development of iViva.works a software technology platform for Enterprise Asset and Service Management under Eutech Cybernetics.
Eutech Cybernetics operates in over 20 countries including the US, Korea, Australia, China, India, South East Asia and the GCC countries and has implemented numerous prestigious projects in the fields of healthcare, enterprise asset management, energy and environment, and resource recycling and optimization among others.
Dr. Gunasingham’s expertise is in the field of Analytical Science, Cybernetics and Control Systems. He has a BSc First Class Honours and PhD from the Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine, in London. He taught and did research at several leading institutions, notably, Imperial College, London, National University of Singapore and British Petroleum, UK. He has published over 60 refereed research papers and has several international patents to his name.
Dr. Gunasingham has been a pioneer across multiple disciplines and his work has received widespread recognition.
Between 1990 and 1995, Dr Gunasingham was Project Director for Eutech Cybernetics for a Canadian funded project to develop technologies and capabilities for resource recycling and energy optimization through enterprise process automation. Dr Gunasingham was presented an award by the Canadian Prime Minister in 1996 for this work and its contributions to science and technology.
In 1993, Dr Gunasingham was Principal Investigator and Program Director for a Eutech team that developed a novel portable electronic blood-lead monitor in collaboration with the Centers for Disease Control, Atlanta, Georgia, USA. The work was awarded a prestigious US$500,000 grant from the US, National Institutes for Health.
In 1995, following these two projects, Eutech was one of the first recipients of Sing$3.5 million RISC grant award by the Singapore National Science and Technology Board.
Dr. Gunasingham is a recipient of numerous other awards including the National Young Scientist and Engineer Award in 1988, awarded by the National Science and Technology Board, Singapore and the EDN Asia, Innovator Award in 1996.
In more recent years, Dr. Gunasingham has been recognised internationally as a leading innovator at the intersection of technology and real estate. In June 2006, Dr. Gunasingham was awarded the Realcomm Digie Award for, among others, being one of the first to envision integrated IB based enterprise-building concepts. In 2008 and 2010, he was nominated as one of 35 people to watch by Realcomm USA, the leading global Real Estate Advisory.
In August 2009, Dr Gunasingham founded the Sigma Sustainability Network and Institute, a Singapore Headquartered group that researches into enabling technologies and methodologies for managing sustainability within organisations.
Dr. Gunasingham has been co-chairman of the Singapore British Business Council Energy and Environment Sub Committee since 2005.
